Dear Fellow Laborer for Christ,
Thank you for taking your time to look over our website.
My wife Sheila, our daughter Alana and I are currently on deputation as Missionaries to the American Military in Germany serving with Baptist International Missions, Inc. and sent by Bethel Baptist Church of Walls, MS. Thank you for taking your time to visit with us.
As you know, the Great Commission instructs us to go into the whole world and preach the Gospel to every creature. For a local church, this is almost impossible without missionaries to carry the seed further. Paul is the standard example yet just about everywhere he went, he preached to the Jews first. The Great Commission is a vital part of church and individual growth but as Paul demonstrated, we should strive to reach our own and work out from there.
After serving for 11 years in the Army from 1990 to 2001, I truly feel that no group of Americans is as isolated and unreached as the American Military serving in Europe and their families. Time zones and distance cut them off from families, friends and the familiar things of home while language and cultural differences further isolate them where they are. The military does everything it can to meet all the physical and recreational needs of each person but their spiritual needs are too often ignored or tended to in a “Something for everyone” approach. The recent attempts to commission an Atheist as a Chaplin in the Air Force further demonstrates some of the spiritual battles our military and their families face.
In Luke 12:48 we are told “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.” Everything we have was at one time paid for in blood; our Freedom, our Liberty, our Bible and our Salvation. We are required to give back to those who have given us so much, both God and man. Please partner with us to tell the roughly 100,000 men, women and children living and serving in Germany (who are willing to give their time, their blood and their tomorrows for our freedoms and our todays) of the one who gave His life as a ransom for their sins and their eternity.
An English-speaking Independent Baptist Church outside the gates of a European base is free from the government restrictions that hinder Chaplains and others trying to speak of Christ. It’s also a very welcome piece of the United States that draws even locals and retired military living in the area to it. Finally, because of constant deployments, moves and travel, it’s a seed factory constantly putting new Christians, laymen and full time workers on the field worldwide.
Thank you for your time and prayerful help. If you would like to know more or even have us in for a visit, please let us know. Financial support can be sent to our home church or through our mission board but prayer support is truly the most important. We will even send you a prayer card if you’d like.
Your servant in Christ
